| History: | It is widely believed that the Akbash Dog was originally bred in the region of Akbash, Turkey thousands of years ago. As civilizations began to domesticate and farm animals, the dogs were used as livestock guardians. It is often mistaken to be a herder, but was primarily used simply to live amongst cattle as their protector. Although the dog is generally a low energy breed, it can move with surprising speed and agility when necessary. It is happiest with lots of space to roam. |
